I love holidays. Some are unhappy with the fact that most original customs somehow mutated into commercialized events or they feel displeased with the fact that almost everything in the west revolves around christianity. Since I am not religious, the traditional aspect of the holidays is of no importance to me. As for the commercial aspect, although welcome, it is unnecessary to me as well. All that matters is coming together in a lovely and respectful themed celebration. That feeling of joy when sharing something special with loved ones is all that matters and it truly just makes my heart go all gooey and soft!
One of the ways in which I love celebrating popular holidays is by watching said holiday themed ( animated ) shows or movies with the family. And since fathers day is tomorrow we sat down to watch last years American Dad fathers day special ( Season 14 Episode 1 ).
I love American Dad for a multitude of reasons but the thing I love most about the show is the fact that it never ceases to inspire deep reflection on various aspects of life. For example, this particular episode led me to gain some new, wonderful insight on perfection.
By obsessing with picture perfect moments, flawless celebrations or ‘getting it right’ we can easily lose sight of what truly matters. A deep connection to others, the welfare and happiness of our loved ones, enjoying and living in the moment, these are the things life and holidays are really about about.
Hope my little insight will translate well to your specific circumstances and wishing you a happy Fathers Day celebration! 🤗
