I don’t know how this local festival got it’s name, but I do know is that it made me curious about some day visiting the real Vama Veche. Until than I was fully set on enjoying these namesake festivities! And as it turns out, it wasn’t that hard.
There was appetizing food, delightful music and simple, yet amazing kids animation. In my book this combination is always a success! The fact that it happens just a stone’s throw away from Bruges historic city center is merely a bonus.
I was truly impressed with the amount of vegetarian food options available. At such a small-scale, conventional festival I really wasn’t expecting it. There were only two food trucks and one pop-up restaurant but all of them had at least one vegetarian option! 😍🤗 I remember how 10, 15 years ago I got teased and even bullied by peers and adults alike for being a vegeterian. 😳 And look how far we’ve come now! 😍 Progress might be slow but it’s really happening, guys! 💪
After first having enjoyed a yummy ice cream ( clear priorities and all that 😜 ) we headed towards the most delightful corner of the festival. To enter we had to venture through a Narnia-like enchanted closet. It opened into Barry’s Magic Wonder World. This little monster themed corner was dedicated to encouraging children’s creativity and wonder.
The festival continues until this Wednesday and there is even a new kids attraction expected. If you happen to be in the neighborhood I encourage you to swing by! Maybe we’ll even run into each other, because we’re definitely heading back at least one more time! 🤗
