With winter around the corner and fall still buffeting us with indecisiveness on whether the weather should be hot cold, rainy or a little bit of everything thrown into the mix many of us are victims to a weakened immune system. Both Nina and the kids, in fact, fell ill recently to a cold and it was this guy right here’s task to make sure they were well taken care of. So what can you do to make life a little better for those who are feeling a little ‘under the weather’? Taking over some of their daily tasks around the house where and whenever possible goes without saying. Rest is still the number one thing that’ll help them get through their ordeal. But what else is there? Why, making them a nice bowl of soup of course! So here I wanted to quickly share a recipe for a soup that’ll get your partner, kids and let’s not forget yourself up and running again in no time.
water (bet you didn’t see that coming)
1 big leek
a couple of carrots
a nice bit of ginger (the more you add the more spicy the soup will be, but it is an essential ingredient!)
2 cloves of garlic
-heat up the water
-slice the leek into small rings and throw it into the water as it heats up
-cut the onions into small bits and add it to the mix
-do the same for the carrots and the potatoes
-peel the tomato and cut it into bits, then add to the boiling soup
-add garlic (minced)
-cut the ginger into small chunks and add to soup
-add spices to your liking
-eat, enjoy, get better
As you can see it is a simply recipe but it will effectively help strengthen your immune system to fight off that cold! It can taste a bit strong, but that’s because it will make you strong, like a Russian bear! As with all things there’s always elbow room to improve on this soup. So if you guys have any idea on what could be added to make it even better, let me know!
